Opioid Addiction and Issues of Substance Misuse

Attendees will be able to:

1.       Describe one method of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and it’s effectiveness

3.       List two ways that CBT can be used to ‘retrain’ the brain as part of addiction treatment

4.       Describe the process of recovery in order to utilize a recovery oriented focus of care

5.       Describe one way trauma effects recovery and reinforces addictive behaviors

About Our Presenter:

Mary Linden Salter is the Executive Director of the Tennessee Association of Alcohol, Drug and other Addiction Services, an association of addiction and recovery support providers.  Mary Linden is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in Tennessee since 1996. She received her Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University.  The association’s advocacy efforts have included ACA education, outreach and enrollment, addressing the Medicaid Gap, promotion of funding for addiction resources, parity education and enforcement, and refinements to LADAC licensure. Mary Linden serves on the TDMHSAS Institutional Review Board, the Co-Occurring Disorders Collaborative Steering Committee, the Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute Board of Trustees, the TN Association of Drug Court Professionals Board, The Tennessee Certification Board and the Board of the Healing Arts Project, Inc.
