You Can’t Pour from an Empty Cup: Addressing Wellness in Trauma-Informed Organizations

Learning Objectives:

1.    Describe the impact of trauma on clients, staff, and organizations

2.    Define & distinguish vicarious trauma, burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary traumatic stress

3.    Identify individual & organizational practices that lead to wellness

Speaker: Brad A. Palmertree serves as Director of Community Resilience, The Family Center’s primary prevention efforts. He provides training and consultation for government and community partners to improve outcomes for children, families, and the organizations who serve them. His areas of expertise include adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and trauma, building resilience, organizational change management, organizational wellness, and creating trauma-informed cultures. He holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Lambuth University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan where he was recognized as a Child Welfare Scholar.
