Topic:  Working with Offenders: Batterers’ Intervention in Tennessee

Learning Objectives: At the end of this presentation, participants should be able to:

1.  Understand how to access a certified batterers’ intervention program

2.  Identify three topics that a batterers’ intervention program should cover with their participants

3.  Identify at least one strength and weakness of the current body of literature on batterers’ intervention

Speaker ):  Dr. Bethanie A. Poe, LMSW has been working in field of family violence for about 10 years with experience working in a domestic violence shelter, child protective services, and studying the connections between violence towards animals and people at the University of Tennessee’s Veterinary Social Work. She is currently a program specialist with the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence and focuses on batterers’ intervention programs.
