Title of Workshop: Social Work Ethics and Legislative Advocacy

Presenter(s) Name: Stewart Clifton, JD, NASW-TN Lobbyist and Karen Franklin, LAPSW, Executive Director NASW-TN

Workshop Description: Stewart Clifton will lead this workshop on the importance of Social Workers' involvement in public policy in a way that promotes positive outcomes for our clients and for our profession. Karen Franklin will highlight the ethical imperative of legislative advocacy for Social Workers, based upon the NASW Code of Ethics.

Learning Objectives:

            1. Participants will understand how the NASW Code of Ethics relates to Social Workers' involvement in public policy and   

             social justice.

2.     Participants will learn what skills are needed for Social Workers to address policy issues impacting our clients and our profession.

3.     Participants will learn how we can utilize these and other skills to make a difference in the public policy arena.
